The organisers may limit the number of competitors and entries will be accepted on a "first come first served" basis.
Class A and B:
Entry fee will be €100 per vehicle per day for Classes A and B(Inclusive of
Personal Accident Insurance and One Event License).
Class C :
Entry Fee will be €100 for per jeep per day (Inclusive of
Personal Accident Insurance and One Event License).
Classes:
Class A – Teams with 3 or more assisting devices. Each winch and locker is
counted as an assisting device.
Class B – Teams with 2 or less assisting devices.
Class C – Teams Individual vehicles which MUST have at least 1 winch to allow self-recovery.
NOTE: A roving recovery service
will be available. This is controlled
by the CoC and event Secretary. Where there are 2 or more individuals competing
in an area, they can recover each other.
Awards:
1st Overall, 1st and 2nd in each class
subject to a minimum of 4 entries per class.
Drivers may only enter one class.
Prize Giving: On site immediately after completion of event.

The club reserve the right to refuse an entry without assigning a reason.
The event is basically
a navigation event with teams navigating to find specific locations having
been given GPS co-ordinates. At these locations they will have to use punches
to mark score cards that are fixed to the vehicles to prove they were there.
Both vehicles in the team must be punched to gain maximum points. Teams will
also be given the opportunity to perform specific Tests. These tests may consist
of 4x4 trials section, mental activities, driving skills test etc. These tests
and punches will accumulate points, and the winner is the team with the largest
number of points. Scoring will be a combination of these points less any penalties
incurred by teams, as specified, in the competition rules. Tests will be varied
and designed to test Off Road Driving Skills.
A team will consist of 2 or more vehicles and 4-6 people. 2-3 nominated drivers, and 2-3 nominated navigators. Note: The navigators may NOT drie under any circumtances.
BRIEFING:
Drivers Briefing will take place 30 minutes before the due start time of the event. Further instructions may be issued at this time.
3A. All vehicles are
required to be available for scrutineering at the appointed
time. A team representative must be present during
scrutineering.
3B. Entrants are
required to report to scrutineering with these items and documents:
Competition Drivers
license – Drivers only.
Current RTA Insurance
certificate or equivalent.
Current valid Road Tax
Disc
3C. The vehicle must be
presented in a ready to start condition including all compulsory equipment.
3D. Any
vehicle presented for scrutineering which is deemed by the Organisers to not be
of a standard or condition appropriate to compete in the event, or fails the scrutineering inspection process, may render the entrant
liable for exclusion.
3E. A
second and final scrutineering inspection at a later time, can be applied for.
3F. All
vehicles must pass the 2nd scrutineering process,
or they will be excluded from starting the event.
4A All vehicles shall carry
an operable dry powder fire extinguishers (minimum 2kg), mounted securely,
within easy reach of the driver or co-driver.
4B. Spare wheel, jack and
wheel brace.
4C. Recovery Kit.
1 tow strap or tow rope.
Winch equipped vehicles
must also carry-
1 tree strap.
2 pairs of winching gloves.
2 x 3.25t (min) rated
shackles
1 cable dampeners – 1kg
minimum. (for use with STEEL cable)
All recovery equipment
to be securely stored at start of each Special test.
4D. A First Aid Kit.
Use of radios during the
event will be allowed and can be tuned to alternative channels as required.
6.A BODY/CHASSIS/AXLES/STEERING
A.1 The vehicles
structural body can be altered from standard.
A.2 Seatbelts are
required for all occupants, the minimum being a 3 (three) point lap sash type.
The seatbelts must not be frayed, torn or damaged in any way.
A.3 The chassis can be
strengthened and modified to allow fitting of nonstandard engines and
suspension systems.
A.4 No rear wheel steering
vehicles will be allowed.
A.5 At least one
recovery points must be clearly identified
A.6 All items carried in
the vehicle must be secured while the vehicle is in motion.
A.7 Soft top and open
top vehicles shall be fitted with a roll bar.
A.8 Doors must be fitted
to all vehicles.

6B. ENGINES
Any engine, make or size
can be used provided it is a legal and roadworthy fitment in the State of
registration.
6C. FUEL SYSTEMS
The Chief Scrutineer
reserves the right to reject any fuel tank that is deemed to be unsafe.
6D. WHEELS AND TYRES
D.1
D.2 Agricultural tyres
of any type are not allowed.
D.3 Wheel chains of any
type are not allowed.
D.4 Wheel and tyre
combinations can protrude vehicle body but must be accompanied by flare
material extending the whole length of the wheel arch.
D.5 It is compulsory for
1 spare wheel to be carried and be securely
6E. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
E.1 All lights, indicators,
wipers, reverse and brake lights must be connected and
E.2 All vehicles must
have an effective horn.
6F. WINCH
F.1 The winch cable must
be in serviceable condition without damage, i.e. No broken strands of wire,
no badly crushed sections.
F.2 The winch must be fitted
with an operational automatic brake.
F.3 The
cable must be high tensile steel (aircraft type), min 8mm diameter, or Plasma
12 strand, 8mm minimum.
F.4 Other than on the drum,
winch cables must not be fastened by U clamps. Steel cables must have professionally swaged loops.
Plasma type cables will be spliced.
7A. This event is open
to all road registered 4 wheel off road vehicle types providing the vehicle
currently or previously has been sold to the general public by the
manufacturer.
7B. Any unusual or extraordinary
4 wheel off road vehicles can be considered for entry provided the vehicle
complies with the Section 6 Vehicle Specifications.
7C. In soft or open top
vehicles it shall be mandatory for competitors to wear crash helmets which
must comply with RTA regulations - S.I. No. 322 of 1993.
8A. No rubbish
(including oil) to be left on the site.
8B. Failure to use a
tree protector during winching operations will result in

to fix any kind of advertising to their vehicles
provided that:-
9A. It is not offensive.
9B. Adequate space is available for event sponsors, competition numbers and event labels.
9C. All
event sponsorship , logos and graphics must be carried.
Clerk of the
course decision is final in this regard.
10A. The starting order
will be by drawing lots.
10B. The
driver and vehicle combination must remain the same for the entire event,
no double driving will be allowed.
10C. The driver must align
the most forward part of the vehicle with the starting pegs when ready to
start a test. Non rolling start.
10D. The
driver may commence once cleared by the start marshal.
10E. The
final score for a special test will be calculated when the vehicle has come
to a complete stop at the finish.
10F. No passengers other
than the driver and co-driver combination are allowed in the vehicle during
the event. 15 penalty points on first offence. A second offence will lead
to disqualification.
10G. Each
competitor must start in their respective ballot order, unless the Clerk of
the course or start marshal grants prior permission.
10H A time limit may be
set for each non driving test, as instructed by the start marshall. No further
points will be awarded after the expiration of the time limit.
10I. Each
teams score for each test will be recorded on the teams score sheets.
10J. Tests can be marked
by pegs, bunting or stated as a formed track. Penalties will be deducted for
hitting pegs or infringing the course boundaries.
10K. A
competitor when directed by the official must immediately remove themselves
from the course.
10L. A
competitor can choose to DNF a Test at any time.
11A. Penalties will be
applied in line with instructions issued by the start marshall.
11B. A 15 point penalty
will be incurred for either driver or co-driver not
11C. A 15 point penalty
will be incurred by a competitor entering or exiting the vehicle when it is
not at a complete stop.
11D. A
15 point penalty will be incurred for any outside assistance received
during the running of a Test.
11E. All recovery equipment
must be securely stowed before starting and finishing the Test. Infringements
will incur a 10 point penalty.
11F. Any recovery techniques
that are deemed to be unsafe shall incur a 10 point penalty, this includes:-
- Jumping over a winch
cable while anchored.
– Failure to clear an area
prior to snatching or winching.
– Handling a winch cable
without wearing finger enclosed gloves (gloves to be appropriate for handling
purposes)
– Failing to lay a cable
dampener over steel winch cable during all winching operations. Cable dampener
to be positioned on centre third of cable at start of winching.
– Continuing any unsafe
winch practice after official warning.
11G. Controlled Test Area:
The vehicle must come to a complete stop in the controlled area before the test can commence.
Where a competitor ‘HOLD’ area has been designated, you ‘MUST’ stop and wait with the vehicle until directed to move to the Test.
11H. Note: - it is possible to go into a negative
score in certain Tests.
A. Breakdown repairs may
be attempted on the course. Competitors only may retrieve spare parts from
base camp,or effect field repairs on the course. After approval from the Clerk
of the course outside assistance is permitted at base camp or off the course.
Vehicles under repair must not obstruct the progress of other competitors.
B. Teams will stay together unless directed by the Clerk of the Course
C. Penalties will apply
to any infringements of rules A and B (minimum 15 points).
13A.Competitors will receive 10 to 50 points for each navigational point they find, for each vehicle (20 to 100 points per team).
13B Each special test
carries 25 possible points per vehicle (50 per team).
13C Competitors will be
scored by adding navigational points to special test points.
13D Penalty points will
be deducted if applicable.
13E. In case of a tied
score, the winner will be decided by the least ammount of penalties. If this fails to break the tie, the greatest number of fully completed score cards. If this fails
to break the tie, Points scored in Special tests. If this fails to break the tie,t he team with the least number of “assisting devices” will
win. If this fails to break the tie, a special test will decide
the winner.
14A. No participant
shall seek favour from, influence, manipulate, obstruct or interfere with the
duties of any member of the Competition Committee. Any participant found doing
so shall be immediately disqualified.
14B. No participant shall interfere or tamper with any other participant's vehicle whatsoever. Any participant found doing so shall be immediately disqualified
14C No participant shall
engage in abusive, obscene language, or improper or unsporting behaviour towards
their team-mates, other participants or officials.
